The story of Venture Out goes back to 1968 when Gulf Oil had the brilliant idea of developing a Travel Trailer Resort Park. As a matter of fact, they developed five parks with 3 being in Florida, one in Mesa, Arizona, and one in Tennessee.
The grand opening of Venture Out at Panama City Beach, Inc. took place July 3, 1970 boasting it had around 100 acres of land with 300 feet on the Gulf of Mexico and 1,000 feet on beautiful Grand Lagoon. The park offered RV lots complete with palm trees, a 10’X 16’ patio and a concrete picnic table set. All lots had hook-ups for travel trailers with prices starting at $4,495.00.
In 1977, the last phase was developed and it only took a year to sell all of the available lots. At this time Gulf Oil turned over the management of the park and the balance of the property to the Condominium Association consisting of 735 lot owners. Each lot owner owns 1/735 of all the common areas for the entire park and pays a common maintenance fee each month to keep them up. He also owns his building lot in fee simple and assumes the maintenance thereof. The Association will cut the grass upon request.
Many positive things have happened over the past 20 years. We have evolved from a travel trailer park to a residential community, with a large number of custom built homes in the 200-300 thousand dollar range. There are over 200 families living in the park year round. Property values have increased beyond our expectations.
Venture Out at Panama City Beach, Inc. offers its owners and guest a great variety of amenities. White sandy beaches, two pools with one heated and one located on the Gulf of Mexico, putting green, two tennis courts, gated community with 24 hour security, shuffleboard courts, basketball court, playground for children, dock for fishing, boat ramp and dock for boaters, large pavilion for outdoor gatherings, large clubhouse for the owners to have organized activities, and a fully staffed office to run the affairs of the Association.
